Areca catechu (Golden)
Golden Betel Nut Palm

The Betel Nut Palm is widely cultivated in S.E. Asia for its seeds that contain a mild stimulant. With its slender, green trunk, long crownshaft and dense crown of shiny green fronds it also is of considerable value as an ornamental. The seeds are fast and easy to sprout and plants are very fast growing and best suited to warm subtropical and tropical regions. The golden variety we offer here is a form with yellowish-golden leaves. While some may claim that the plant looks deficient, this variety is higly valued, particularly in Asia, for its unusual ornamental qualities.

They do not necessarily describe the most appropriate methods, nor are they necessarily valid for all seeds or plants of this species. Germination and plant cultivation success depends on many different factors; nevertheless, these experiences will hopefully aid you in your effort to get the best germination results from our seeds and the best growth results from your plants.
