Citrus trifoliata (= Poncirus trifoliata)
Chinese Bitter Orange
A deciduous, slow growing, small tree to about 8 m tall with spiny, green branches, white, scented flowers in spring and very decorative, yellow, lemon-like fruit in autumn, that are technically edible but very bitter. By far the hardiest Citrus, reportedly suitable to temperate climates as low as USDA Zone 5 but definitely hardy in Zones 7 an above.
